Has anyone read, Rails Through the Grass by Rick VanZee? I won a new copy off of e-bay. What I have read so far this is a very interesting book. It is about the Milwaukee Roads Platte short line in South Dakota. It is a very good history lesson mixed in with the authors personal experience growing up with the railroad. If you haven't read it, check it out!
Andy- I bought a copy from Rick, when it came out. Was amazed at how much information he'd gathered on this small line segment. As an aside, I'd swear to having seen a brief scribble, somewhere, that someone was trying to, once again, return rail service to this branch. Boxcab E50
Boxcab, Acually I bought mine from Rick too. He was selling it on e-bay. I paid $12 shipping included. He even signed it. It is really a great book with great old pic's. It sure would take a lot of work to get that line in operating order!!
