Time for the next RRAdventures story; this time from the Colorado Railroad Museum (CRRM) Steam Up on July 19, 2008...

    *******

The mercury nearly top 100F but Lisa and I decided to attend the most recent CRRM Steam Up since D&RGW #346 would be operating and this would be our first time to see her running. We also took in the Denver Garden Railway Society G-Scale Exhibit and the America and the Passenger Train exhibit.

    Turn-Table

Lisa and I arrived to late to watch #346 exit the roundhouse onto the turn-table; but, we did get there in time to watch her roll-off the turn-table in preparation for her days operation. Lisa gets in several shots of her so I've picked out a handful for the website as seen through Lisa's lens.

Here are a few more of Lisa's shots as #346 pulls off the turn-table; note the tender shows #318

Galloping Goose #2 (Rio Grande Southern)

D&RG #346 won't be the only engine making runs around the loop today. Lisa will take this shot of Rio Grande Southern Galloping Goose #2 in front of the roundhouse.

    Video #01

While Lisa is busy watching the action I've got the video camera going, catching the sites and sounds of the morning getting the various engines moved onto the loop track.

    Rio Grande Steam Engine #346

Before I setup to get video of the rest of the engines moving on/off the Turntable, I got this shot using my little point-n-shot of Rio Grande #346.

    D&RGW #346

With all the engines moved off the turntable, Lisa and I find D&RGW #346 getting some maintenance on one of the side tracks, Naturally we took sometime to stand in the shade near the engine and take several shots. Here is just a few of those...

    RESET / Take-2 / Hold the Phone/ CRAP!

I knew something last night didn't seem right and low and behold I found why things didn't seem to be lining up between Lisa and my images/videos. Part of what has been posted is from July 2008 and part from July 2009; so, I've messed up and gave you a "Preview" of a future topic without knowing it. - FAIL!

    Video #1 - From July 19, 2008

Something just seemed wrong with those first two videos and OOPS!, they are from July 2009, not 2008; I've gotten way ahead of myself.

Here is Video #1 from July 19, 2008 of D&RGW #346 coming off the turn-table

    Keeping our eye's open

Whenever you visit the Colorado Railroad Museum you always want to keep your eye's open as things get shifted around making it easier to photograph and new pieces of equipment might show up that you have not taken photographs of before.

In this series of shots Lisa catches Colorado and Southern Snow Plow #99201 that was once stored across the street nearly out of view behind trees; now in clear view. The new Headington Tank at No Agua that replaced the old / aging tank that once stood here. This new tank was made possible by a generous donation from Rod and Linda Huskey in memory of Linda's parent. It's modeled after Jack's Cabin tank that was located between Gunnison and Crested Butte. Lastly in front of Denver & Salt Lake Caboose #10060 is new arrival UP 0-6-0 Switch Engine #4455.

While I was taping Video #2 above, Lisa got over a dozen shots of the engine as well as it passed the Headington Tank and I've selected these two for this report...

    Run-By #1

While I was shooting that last video clip during RUn-By #1, Lisa was a bit farther down the track and taking photographs of the train as it pass her too...

The Run-By would not be complete without the rest of the train so here it is...
