Okay, just trying to catch up after my trip. Nice route maps. Am I correct in assuming that these are painted on a display at the staion in El Fuerte? Let me read some more and I'll have more questions. Ed
The abandoned station at Km 822 was named "Ing Heriberto Valdez". Can't help as to why it is out of service. I'm a bit confused regarding your train. Was it a normally scheduled train or something special? I had been lead to believe that trains are either all "Primera Express" or all "Clase Economica". But yours seems to be mostly Primera Express with two second class coaches thrown in. And was your car on the end a private car as in reserved for your group? I really need to get my butt up there and ride this train. Regards Ed
As far as I know this was a normally scheduled train but it was a mixed train as you noted. Yes, the end car was reserved for our tour group and we had "Arm Guards" with us for a major section of the trip to make sure people did not enter our car. During the trip we did have lunch in the forward Dining Car so I can truly say the train was a mix based on the differences in the cars as we walked from end to end. Since I spent allot of time outside our car to take video from the decks between our car and the car forward of us I was with some of the regular paying passengers and those I met were a great bunch of railfans too. We might not have spoken the same langauge but we enjoyed the trip together all the same. :shade: :shade: :shade: :shade:
