I am from central pa and I railfan altoona area alot. I was woundering how many other people useing this site go's there? thanks
Welcome aboard pa_railfan. Altoona is a bit far for me to visit, but I am sure others here would be familiar with the place
I've been there 4 times. It's really a great area to railfan. How is the Railroader's Memorial Museum doing these days? I heard that things were not going well and they may have to shut down one day. Any truth to those rumors?
I prefer the area farther south, along CSX's Keystone Subdivision. Too many people hang out around Altoona these days.
the museum is in very bad shape money wise and they are talking about closeing but i dont think they will. I hope not anyway because they have the horseshoe curve so that might be gone to Ill let you know as soon as I find any more info on this. thanks Mike
where is the csx line at?? this might be worth checking out. how many trains go through there? is railfanning csx better then NS?? thanks Mike
Southern Pennsylvania, Maryland, and West Virginia. 25-30 daily Always and forever. Better trains, better scenery, and fewer railfans to run into trackside.
