Hello everyone! It's the last day of May and we are inching closer to summer (though it doesn't feel like it). Here's the selections.

Thanks co_riff. Who'd have ever thought an SD-40-2 could evoke wistful memories of the old days? These things were everywhere at one time, but are becoming a far less common sight in my area.

I enjoy the widespread diversity of everyone's photographs here. Nice to be able to share.

What ever happened to those L&NW F units?

They took a bath in storm surge sea water during Hurricane Ike and were cut up for scrap. The museum used the FEMA money to buy two more ex SP F7s and painted them like this.

Ah. OK. Now I remember that sad F unit demise story.

As a point of interest, I like seeing that F with the front door open; seems like all the picture I see of cowl units they're closed, so that's kid of neat to see. The replacement unit looks beautiful - is it display only or a runner?

Both the "new" F7s run. They came up to Rosenberg with a train last year on the BNSF tracks.
