(NYSE: RA) today reported that its total freight carloads for the month ended October 31, 2011 were 71,418, down 1.9% from 72,826 in October 2010. The Company had increased shipments in October 2011 in seven out of twelve commodity groups compared to October 2010. The largest increases were in Coal, Waste & Scrap Materials and Metallic Ores and Metals. Coal shipments increased largely due to shipments to a power plant that had maintenance downtime in October of 2010.
