Yes, I talked to Don Sweet of RCS New England who fixed me up to convert my FA & RS over to battery. To me it was worth the cost. Now I just put the eng (s) on the track & away we go - no more worrying about dirty track, loose rail joiners, or complicated wiring. The batteries last an hour and a half to two hours although I have never been out there that long at a time to really test them as I'm still "workin on the railroad" The battery fits right in the loco so you don't need a trailing car, recharge time is either 8 or 16 hrs depending on the eng. If you plan on having a lot of engines then the system would be quite costly, also if your railroad runs continually then you might want to check out another system, but for me, it's been great. them

I am actually going to use this system to run my CAB system on my N scale layout. The Australian product replaces a standard Dc controller with the hand held radio throttle without any alterations to my locomotives. All it basically does is convert a standard controller to a radio throttle.

    Paul,
In my opinion as I have told you before, I have used this one and the Aristocrat, I reckon the Aristo. is the best.
Espesially if you do some switching, it is much more responsive.

Here is an update on the latest release controller
    from the Australian distributor

"Before I could finalise exactly what was needed in the R/C trackside
controller consultation with my main USA distributor was required.
This was decided and on Wed I started the PCB design.
The PCB will be finalised this coming week and I expect to have
production samples on show at the upcoming Sydney Model Railway
exhibition at the end of Sep.
Providing no drastic revisions are necessary I will have the new
throttle ready by the end of October.

I hope this is of help and please rest assured that it will be worth
    waiting for.

    Best wishes,

    Tony Walsham. "

I hope to see the new unit at the Sydney Exhibition at the end of this month

I have used the RCS system with battery power on my garden railroad for several years. They continue to improve it and I like it very much.
Have one of the LocoLink throttles, which is okay, but too darn bulky.

I use DCC on the HO so I am gettin pretty spoiled with all these great systems.

Today I installed the above mentioned throttle (can only test it until christmas day :D )

The main control unit was easy to install all it requires is 16 volts AC and then outputs to the cab (track).

There are a few operating options you can programme on the unit.

You can set button 1 to accelerate and button 3 to decellerate to a point the loco reverses or you can set button 3 to only decerate loco to stop.

To reverse the loco all you need to do is press the run button.

The number 2 button is the auto stop button, by pressing this it decellerates the loco and bring it to a stop.

The system can also be programmed to vary the increase and decrease speeds at 3 different rates.

All in all its a great unit the only negative if any is the hand throttle emmits a audible tone when you press one of the buttons but it is not loud.

The system also allows 4 other remote functions e.g for a sound system or to turn on lights or a relay.

All in all a great system at a very reasonable price.

I have used the throttle over the past few days and it has been working fine there are no problems with reception and the unit seems quite responsive.
