    Hey Guys,

Been trying to figure the upper headlight on the E9's. Is it a "Mars" or oscilating light. Or- is it just the red "emergency" light-? In the photos I have, it appears to be just the red light.

    What are your thoughts-?

    Thanks,
    Wolf

I am not sure what the practice was on E9s but it is my understanding that typically SP liked to use a Gyra-light brand oscillating light in the upper position, although I believe they did have Mars lights on some locomotives. Some could change between clear and red depending on the situation. And then many times the type of lights changed over the life of the locomotive.

The E9's came with what looks like a large reflector and what appears to be a red light behind it. It does look like it oscilates. I have since noticed in some close up picks of the 6051 that there is a clear "bulb" positioned in the middle of the reflector. On what looks like a stand of some sort. Very strange. I'm just trying to figure out how represent this light. I'm working on a pair of Kato N-Scale units.

    Thanks,
    Wolf
