ATSF Question

    Last weekend on the SP&S 700 excursion, one of the diesels BNSF "loaned" to us was an ex Santa Fe, blue and yellow No. 6308. What kind of diesel is 6308? I couldn't find any ID marks anywhere on her, and I'm a steam nut, don't know my diesels. I'm guessing an SD45. :confused:

    6308 started out life as Santa Fe SD40 1708. It was renumbered to 5008 in 1970, rebuilt to an SD40u in '81, and finally renumbered to BNSF 6308 in '98.

    Thanks, Dwight. The other one they loaned us was a pumpkin, pretty new, probably a 9-44 or something. :confused:
