I've got another question. On my turnouts, I seem to have problems with my locos loosing power or completely stopping at low power (under 40% power). I have checked my joints and don't seem to have a problem there I don't think. Does anyone have any suggestions? [IMG]

    Samscats,

what kind / make of turnout do you use?
    Kato Unitrack, Atlas, PECO?

Please let us know, so we can give more specific info.

    In general:
Most turnouts have plastic frogs (the small part in the middle where the track actually meet). If you have small engines they might loose power on these plastic parts.

As you already checked the joints I suggest to clean the track and the wheels of the engine and check again.

    Cheers
    Dirk

The track is Atlas. I have cleaned the wheels on the engines. I do think that it may be around the frogs, I will watch that more.

Code 80 or cose 55 track?

My locos do the same thing once in awhile.... mainly its my Trainmasters that have this hiccup... my GP60s and GP38s do fine.

It is Code 80. The other problem I am having is sometimes when I try and start them out slowly, they start, and then stop and I have to push on them to get them to go. I have tested the power again today and it still seems to be steady. I am going to try and clean the track again today (a daily thing right now) and see if that help with the starting issue. If anyone has any suggestions there, I would be more than happy to hear them.

    samscats:

I would drop power feeders from the turnouts to a common bus line to ensure that you have good electrical power through the turnouts.
