Hello everyone, Does anyone know if the first two U.P. Eriebuilts were ever fitted with the large front coupler doors as fitted to the later rounded windscreen varient?. I can not find any evidence of this in any of my literature. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Kindest regards, Don.
Hi Don2, Welcome to TrainBoard. I don't know the answer to your question, but hopefully someone else does and will be able to help you. Harold
Hi, don2, I don't know if the following article has the information you're looking for, but it's a great read on the UP Erie-builts: http://utahrails.net/webpubs/up-erie-builts.php Here's another web article, also about the Erie-Builts in general: http://www.hosam.com/fm/fmhist.html Enjoy!
Hello Harold & John, Thank you for the replies, I need the information for a modelling project. I decided to convert the Proto 1000 version back to the earlier square windscreen corner version without full resarch. I have finished the roof and windscreen mods but I also fitted the the large coupler doors which I now think was a mistake. I remember reading some where that the trucks were later changed to the cast version, this apparently is not so and I am at the moment making new side frames for the trucks. Don.
