AZL has sold everything they have produced in brass. A collector recently offered his collection in another forum, asking twice the orginal MSRP for each item, and every brass piece he had sold. The takeaway is Z is a pretty affluent club, with alot of one-upsmanship always searching (and paying for) the rare, unattainable and desireable. Take the chance and create vehicles for the upscale market; you won't know until you try.

Nice to see you here Carlos. Thanks again for making that Kenworth Aerodyne for me!

I agree with others that resin is fine in most cases. Perhaps metal could be used for items that would be too thin/fragile to print in resin? I have thought about metal exhaust stacks and air breathers on my trucks. Mud flaps may be another option, but probably not worth the cost.

I experimented with rolling axles as well as positionable front wheels, and decided that static models are good enough for me.

I am not a fan for metal as the details have been poor-to-very poor. Doing lost wax casting does not help. Showcase Miniatures has done quite well details in N, but they are pricey.
Resin at least allow you high yields and relieves you of the nightmare of infinite curved surfaces (although softens details). Those could be the add-ons.

Static is 100% for me, but turn wheels would be nice (Accessory kit with 15/30 degree wheels)

And put 2 small holes under, for mounting. Nothing holds down well while transport modules.

Mickie and I will be at Altenbeken in 3 weeks. Look for the wife’s “Crayon” hair, as the kids say.

Hi Jeff, will you be staying over from saturday to sunday? You might like to join the dinner on saturday night. It is good food for a fair price, near the Eggelandhalle venue, and a good opportunity to meet other z-scalers.

Looking forward to seeing overseas guests.

Hi Matt, Do you know if it is possible to join the dinner on saturday via a reservation somewhere? I will be visiting the exhibition both days and have a hotel near the site.

Yes, you have to make a reservation. Contact Axel Hempelmann, ZFI-chair and one of the Altenbeken-organisers. He put up a form on the ZFI forum, see here: https://f.z-freunde-international.de/viewtopic.php?t=21709

The form is intended for folks that bring a layout or commercial stand, however, you can leave all those questions blank or delete them from the form and register for the meal on saturday night. The 'Schnitzel essen' on friday night is for the active participants only (layout/shop).

The form is a bit old fashioned and requires an autograph. I just printed, signed, scanned and mailed it

    See you there.

Mickie and I will be near the OWL’s Nest at the wonderful country Hotel Waldesrard, Herford.
    https://www.hotel-waldesrand.de/

For those who don’t know, the OWL’s Nest is a 2 level layout in a cozy 3 level converted barn, in a middle of a Golf Course (house and bard WAY before the Golf Course) all way out in country. It’s a 2-for-1 vacation. We run an OPS session.

We will be with Alex (scanrail2011@gmail.com) and family/friends before. We are both Design Engineers and have similar family upbringing.

If it doesn't work out to make a reservation to eat together, it is possible to come later when everyone has finished eating.
I won't arrive until around 9:30 p.m. so that I can talk to everyone about the best hobby of all until early in the morning.:giggle:
