Hi Charlie, Could you tell me anything about Kato Unitrak that was done some years ago in a brown color. I've picked up some on Ebay but was wondering when it was made, for who and if there will be more like this down the pike? I plan on using it to show contrast between a mainline and a tourist line. Thanks for your help. Bob
Brown was the original color of Unitrack. It then went to painted gray, when I don't know. Then molded gray, and now (about three years ago) molded gray with ballast highlight colors. The Brown track is at least 10 years old, maybe more. I doubt you will find any except on the used market. Charlie Kato USA R&D
Charlie, I thouugh I heard something about Kato releasing ballast that matched the color of Unitrack. I was wondering because that would be a great thing to fill the gaps between two different sets of track. Any word on that?
I'm not Charlie, but I think I can help. I use the Kato ballast on my layout, and it looks pretty good. Toy Train Heaven http://www.toytrainheaven.com/ shows it on their Unitrack page, part #24039 . HTH
As I stated in my previous reply to you, Toy Train Heaven shows it on their Unitrack page, I also have seen it listed on The N Scale Division's site. http://www.nscaledivision.com
