After doing some digging in the archives, I found this: An agreement dated Oct. 24, 1911 provided for the SLSF to acquire the bonds and pay all operating expenses and taxes of the QA&P. In 1950 Frisco started to end the independent operation of the QA&P. It went to all-diesel in 1951, leasing their locomotives from Frisco. ALso at this time, most of the employees were reassigned elsewhere.
The book The Quanah Route: A History of the Quanah, Acme & Pacific Railway available on amazon.com and other sites, is a great QA&P resource. I have this book in my personal library. Charlie
I have it as well. Good book! Also, I have a video called "Ship IT on the FRISCO!", which has shots of Frisco freights in southwestern Oklahoma and Sherman, TX, plus the very last run of a train on the QA&P, plus the (sad) shots of the salage train taking up rails. It's from SG Video, and unfortunately he has no more copies.
I suppose that isn't available on DVD. How could someone have no more copies of a video? Run out and make more copies. Charlie
I have his Rock Island tape. Was going to buy that Frisco video several times. Seemed like each time, the money went toward something more exciting. Like bills. Boxcab E50
Bills would not be more exciting than a Frisco video! I would sure be interested in seeing that video myself. Charlie
