Attention Atlas forumites.... See what you've been missing over here? Not only does she mess with our heads, but she's a fine model..er....modeler...uh...yeah. Shut up and hit post.
Wow, I don't have much to add to this tangent so I will let it be. However: Going back to the original post that started the thread and continuing the tangent that Sandro picked up on, yes I have. Fortunately I was in the garage where I was trying to get one of those useless ballast spreaders to work on a module I was building. Oh well, it did not break, but I did have to patch the wall.
UPClark and Straw- Frustration defined- Having a thread hijacked by immigrants from another board and long time members here.
Wellll geeeeezzzzz...I guess I need to appologize. The OP seemed to have fixed the problem. Yes he was frustrated and wanted to throw the thing...but didnt. Was this thread supposed to be 66 reply of people wanting to throw things ? Agreed...some of us have. But personally I believe he was frustrated and fixed it instead...case closed. The thread drifted and ended up being quite entertaining and fun. So once again...I appologize for having fun...guess I'll go find something to throw against the wall and get this thread back on track !... :tb-wacky:
Most recent acquisitions that received the dreaded "POS $%$$#!" award: 1) Bandai 'critters' as an attempted substitute for Kato 11-105 chassis. 2) The original 4-wheel pager motor chassis under my Burro crane....the only thing left now is the motor, wheels were garbage on delivery with no fillet and a sharp flange edge. I think it was Modemo. 3) Funny thing about the Bachmann 2-6-6-2 motor, they are also in Tomytec's, and they have about the same life expectancy under load. I think I've had three of about 10 burn out the brushes. But, it got me expirimenting with gearheads, which was a good thing. 4) Minatronics yard spotlights (pricey buggers too) 2 of 4 arrived burned out and had to be exchanged. Cheerfully, but obviously nobody checked these before shipping. I have an embarassingly large collection of brand-new stuff that didn't live up to expectations and is demoted to a drawer of shame.
Well said. The OP did solve the problem and for that we are all glad. But a bit of fun keeps everyone coming back. That's why we love forums.
Your punishment will be that you are required to have photo documentation, (video would be great) and post it here.
I wonder if I had suggested "red twisted widgets" what would have happened? Oh, and Boxcab? Um, when was the last time you were looking up a smoke stack or anyplace else for that matter? I thought you had a bad back or knees or something.
A little known secret, he moonlights and is a consulting maintenance engineer to keep this locomotive running. They close him up inside the smokebox so he can take measurements of the gas flow. Here he is after one run.
Never fear. I have been there in my lifetime. It has been twenty years since my last foray inside a steam engine and with my injuries, likely never again. Even had that not been true, as a small boy I well recall visiting a certain relative did so quite frequently for his railroad paycheck. There were days when he looked just like that photo Russell has posted...
Just for the record, any girl that discribes a model steamer as cute has not seen the real thing. Her reaction will be quite different, I guarantee
