Down in the Voorheesville/Selkirk, NY area again today. Shortly after 1:00pm, eastbound Q152 (hotshot Intermodal) came through with CNW 8603 (C44-9W) and UP 4215 (SD70M) as the power. This train carried double-stacks exclusively.

In other news, a westbound TOFC passed this one at Voorheesville with two CSX AC60CWs on the point (#s 642, 661).

Went west to the next crossing for a change of scenery, and got an eastbound out of Canada with two CN wide-cabs leading, with a CSX (ex-CR) GP38-2 and B23-7 trailing.

A westbound light power move with a CSX C40-8 and HLCX SD40-3 came next, and finally another eastbound Intermodal, with two more AC60CWs (617, 614).

As another note, CSX crews were working at Voorheesville as well, not on the tracks, but the surrounding area. Not sure exactly what was going on, but they were pretty busy.

Wow! More train watching fun in one day for you than I have seen in quite a while [IMG] Those C60's are really huge... it amazes me when you see them next to "small" units, like a GP40-2!

Yeah, not a bad day Harold. We have about 15 C60s stationed out of Selkirk regularly. Mostly they are used on the Boston Line (Boston, MA). Conrail used to use the SD80MACs here in their waning days, so it kind of makes sense that the C60s would be here.

I think there is a daily (Q600 series train, from the Montreal Branch) train through to Selkirk, usually in the vicinity of the yard around 2pm EST. Incidentally, Amtrak #268, Niagara Falls-NYC via Albany, rear-ended this train at about a 5 mph impact speed the other day.
