Pulse power has been around almost longer than me!

Simply put, it adds a little "kicker" to the normally smooth DC voltage to overcome the startup inertia of the motor armature and attached drive train mechanics. Typically, the amplitude of the applied pulses is reduced as the throttle setting is increased.

Some motors don't take kindly to such pulses, particularly if they are high frequency, hence the warning.

This is not the same as AC or DCC waveforms, but is related to the voltage actually applied to the motor windings.
