I have one reverse section of track that I want to the PSX-AR for auto-swapping the polarity on the track. I am using a 14 AWG bus with 20 AWG feeders. How close does the PSX-AR have to be to the track?

    Thanks,

This becomes more of a wiring preference. The AR could be right next to the command station, or located right under your reversing section. It really depends on whether you want multiple bus wires running longer distances.

For me, I put my PSX-3 circuit breakers plus 2 PSX-ARs all next to each other next to the command station. I then ran bus wires to where they needed to be. The main benefit for this was I didn't want bus wires that were not circuit breaker protected under the layout, and I wanted each directly off the bus from the command station, and not in series.

Thanks, Rick. I just read your response tonight. First time back on the forum since it went down. I wire my bench much like you described. Thanks for the vindication.

It really depends on the current trip you are operating at. For example, I run G scale, and long wires between the PSX-AR and the track will have too much resistance... of course my trip level is 12 amps!

Lower trip currents allow lighter gauge wire and more distance from the rails. Did you perform the "quarter" test?
