I haven't used any of the Apple based ones but EngineDriver for Android is phenomenal in my opinion. So many options with it and I really can't see where any of the commercial throttles offer more. It runs on an Android phone or Tablet. You can set the screen up for more than one throttle, multiple screen options and much more ....

.... The only thing I really felt that it lacked was a physical knob to control speed and direction. Now for under $35 you can .....

... add a physical knob and have unbelievable throttle control without looking at the screen. You can still switch to the screen throttle at any time and the screen gives you all of the function controls plus access to all the other features of EngineDriver.

You can find links to the print files for the platform on my website. Don't let not having a 3D printer stop you from pursuing this route.

Above is a wood version I threw together in very little time.

More info on all of that here.....

When first starting, installed and played with most of the throttles listed on the DCC EX site link below...

    https://dcc-ex.com/throttles/index.html

On the Android side, Engine Driver is the best out of the bunch, no question, especially for the price $0. It supports routes, turnouts and accessories in addition to multiple throttles. The iThrottle app is probably the most popular under IOS. Before running Eng Drivers, used SRCP and iThrottle extensively on iPhone. The iThrottle free version allows multiple locos, but track power button and turnout control requires the paid version. I never place or remove locos on track with track power on.

If you are running or interested in running a completely DCC based layout with turnouts and accessories under DCC control... The one area where iThrottle outshines Engine Driver is the ability to have throttles and turnout control on 1 screen. eg With my small MOW layout and a lot of backing into spurs and or switching cars in spurs, the ability to have throttle(s) and turnout control on 1 screen makes life a lot easier than switching screens.
