This is the proposed scheme for my lease company locomotives. CLLX (Curtis Locomotive Leasing) The drawing was saved from http://paintshop.railfan.net Many plans are available on the site, but they are all strictly copywrite, but permission to use them is readily given, as was this one. Alan, I remember you talking about this paint scheme before. It looks great! Are you going with a decal for the white stripe? Did you find one with the black (or blue) pen stripes already on it or are those going to be seperate decals too? Is the decking going to be yellow, or just the edges? Depending on your chosen time frame, I think I read somewhere that all of the locomotives in the States have to have reflective stripes. I'm no rivet-counter, but most of the stripes I've seen are on the edge of the deck and are either all white or alternating red and white. Since everyone is always complaining about how hard it is to paint handrails, why don't you go for black instead of white? ------------------ Ed Harrison Ed's Mental Cab Ride [This message has been edited by ten87 (edited 25 January 2001).]
Thanks Ed. I settled on the paint job, but have not yet figured out how to do it The white stripe will be a decal, with blue pinstriping each edge. Hope I can get them straight The yellow stripe is supposed to be a reflective stripe on the edge only. Will experiment with the handrails colour. Thanks for the comments ------------------ Alan Curtis. Moderator. Member #12 The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.alancurtismodels.com Andersley Western Railroad Alan's American Gallery
Looks great, Alan! Very believable scheme...like something that would fit right in to a prototypical consist (which is hard to achieve!). Russ
Looks very good Alan!! Here is how I would go about your paint job. 1. First paint entire shell (minus trucks and fuel tank) white. 2. Then mask off the white line and paint the long hood red. 3. Then I would get some blue decal striping for the blue that seperates the white and red. Just my opinion. You could use a decal for the white, but I like the paint idea better my self.... ------------------ Craig Martyn Best Looking Models Around Custom detailing AND N scale detail parts. I agree... You would probably have an easier time masking for the white stripe, rather then using a decal. Using a decal for the pinstripe might be more easy, because you could use the painted line as a guide. Looks good though. I've been thinking about a similar scheme using light and dark blue. Dave D. Thanks Craig, I think I will take your advice. If the masked line is not totally sharp, the blue pinstripes will cover the join Now all I have to do is locate some suitable blue lettering and striping, or get some custom decals made ------------------ Alan Curtis.
