I'm not affiliated with this auction, but thought it was interesting: http://cgi.ebay.com/LL-N-scale-Chicago-METRA-F40PH-Custom-101_W0QQitemZ6020007471QQcategoryZ19125QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Thats for a $20 LL F40 after the Kato versions have made their debuet. Thats $50 for a paint job basically. Can someone make some Comet II cars yet?
When you consider the Metra area has at least 4 million people there is bound to be one person looking for this. It could very well be someone buying as a holiday gift who doesn't know the kato is available.
Well, the seller makes a comment about it being for those who don't want $100 locos. And as much as I'd prefer the Kato, the newest version of the L/L isn't bad at all. Same clunky guts, but a better motor, most likely. Maybe this seller ought to offer the decals separately, too?
Actually, if you can put up with the lack of fine detail the LL unit runs pretty good. Especially for passenger trains when you are not switching and coupling cars.
You know its funny, I like the carbody detail a lot. Except for the roof fans, you really can't tell the Kato and LL units apart. I repainted, installed flush glass and fans and put it over a new mechinism and my LL is just as good as the Kato units.
Hey, Not that I'd do it,but I wonder what this & my other NJT engines & cars would command? PS,Thank to George @ Wig-Wag for finding this & my other undec's 2 years ago. It finally got painted [ December 10, 2005, 03:52 PM: Message edited by: SecretWeapon ]
