Hi guys. I finally figured out the RailImages thing so pardon my trying it out so much! Here is my latest project: adding a reverse loop staging area in a closet. The first pic is of the styrofoam, the next is the track glued down, the next is the staging area installed in the closet. All track is Atlas code 100 flex, and Peco Large turnouts glued down with WS Foam Tack Glue. MRC Auto Reverser, Peco switch machines thrown by Digitrax DS-54.

Nice track work Pete! Theirs no kinks or anything in those curves.. ought to be some really smooth running curves!

I remember a post of yours awhile back with me assmebling a Bowser Challenger mechanisum, hows it comming? Up and running yet? I'd love to see it on those curves showings its articulation! Be good to see it draging a solid unit train of UP hoppers or even SP refrigerators! :D

Thanks guys! John, that wasn't me! :( We did talk about big articulateds, but mine are Riv Cab-Forwards. You are absolutely right about them pulling a long string of SP reefers! I want to get a long consist of sugar beet gondolas too! There's no end to this madness! Colonel, I would like to see a two nice links, one for Mac and one for Windows, on the Railimages website (maybe right on the little tool bar next to site policies, contact, albumns, etc...)that lead to crystal clear directions on how to insert the pictures into your posts. One could be called Windows (PC) Users, and the other Mac Users. I'm going to post a brief description for what worked for me (Mac user) under the "confused" topic. Let me say thanks a million for such a great website, all your hard work, and for keeping it free. That's truly amazing! Thank you!

    Pete,
HA! I could have swore you were another fellow I done some custom work for, I believe theirs another "pete" in trainboard! Being I had one comment to me on his Bowser Challenger that I customly assembled! You both are in fact from Nevada too! Anyway I'm an articulated guy myself. I love the big steamers! Specially the EM-1, and the EL-3's, or EL-5's, from B&O. Nothing like a 70 car coal drag behind a EM-1 or an EL-5 :D With a B&O "Big Six" 2-10-2 pushing! Or even 2 Big Sixes pushing.... :D

John, Barnes and Noble has the hard cover book "Classic Trains" on sale for $12.98. In it there's a shot (pg. 31) of your beloved B&O EM-1 pulling a coal drag in 1945. Sweeet!

Here is a pic of the new benchwork. It's not totally complete, but the basic framework is up. The foam will go on top. Track laying coming soon! I think track laying is my favorite part of construction. Maybe I'm wierd.

Nice job Pete. [IMG] i like the planning and laying of the track too. In the past i think i liked laying track too much, i was always tearing up the layout to add more track  Do u have a plan of your layout that u can post ? By your bench work it looks pretty neat ! :D

Thanks, Railery! I don't have a plan, per-se, I first want to get another reverse loop going. Basically I built Atlas' layout HO-26 Southside Connecting, and will put reverse loops on both sides to act as staging destinations. I used to have just an 8' extension that served as two different cities as I operated the Southside Connecting with the software program "Shipit!". With reverse loops, trains will seem like they are actually coming and going from the different cities. Once I operate a while, I will see what other operations I might like to do, and develop a track plan to suit. I imagine I could add another city or two. With Kato probably going to introduce an HO SD70MAC, I've started thinking UNIT COAL TRAIN(!), for which I would then have to add another destination. I recently purchased 3rdPlanit, which helped me with the benchwork, so when I get some time I'll put together a track plan and post it.
