What I love about Trainboard.com is that it motivated me to build a large layout. What I hate about Trainboard.com is when I see the beauty of some of your layouts, and the reality of mine. Someday... I present as example - progress completed on my 'industry' area. 18 months, and still lots of detail to go. No, not the ideal street running, but I was forced a little bit about where the track could go. My justification is that when I drive through the NW industrial area of Portland, OR there are areas where the tracks go at odd angles, overlap a street, etc. Well, maybe in another 18 month I will have improved on the detailing here...
Don't dispare Barry, You have a great looking layout there. I'm jealous of all the room you have for street running. I go through spurts where I don't work on the layout, and then get into the groove and really knock out scenery. The longer it takes the better it will be, I'm envious!
Barry- Remember that every time you do something on the layout, your skills get sharper. And whatever you do, don't worry about comparing yourself to others. Just have fun! Boxcab E50
barry, i think your layout looks great! it's much better than mine... which at this stage is nothing more than a 2x4 lump of plaster cloth...
