What I love [IMG] about Trainboard.com is that it motivated me to build a large layout. What I hate [IMG] about Trainboard.com is when I see the beauty of some of your layouts, and the reality of mine. Someday...
I present as example - progress completed on my 'industry' area. 18 months, and still lots of detail to go. No, not the ideal street running, but I was forced a little bit about where the track could go. My justification is that when I drive through the NW industrial area of Portland, OR there are areas where the tracks go at odd angles, overlap a street, etc. Well, maybe in another 18 month I will have improved on the detailing here...

Don't dispare Barry, You have a great looking layout there. I'm jealous of all the room you have for street running. I go through spurts where I don't work on the layout, and then get into the groove and really knock out scenery. The longer it takes the better it will be, I'm envious!

    Barry-

Remember that every time you do something on the layout, your skills get sharper. And whatever you do, don't worry about comparing yourself to others. Just have fun!

    barry,
i think your layout looks great!
    it's much better than mine...
which at this stage is nothing more than a 2x4 lump of plaster cloth...

That's got to be the best advice I've ever heard.
