It has been some time since the last update. I have had a couple of Sunday "Layout Raising" parties and about 1/4 of the work to do on layout sections is completed, including breaking open holes in the wall. All layout sections are being painted inside and out prior to final installation to minimize wood warp and to provide a more reflective surface for under deck lighting. Layout section progress has been somewhat delayed by a fellow NTRAK member wife's decision to remodel their kitchen. I now have about 12 feet of kitchen cabinents installed in my staging room which will become the base for part of the staging yards. I had planned on finishing the staging room last (got to have some place to pile rolling stock, track and structures while the layout is being built!) but the cabinents rearranged the construction schedule. Now I am going to finish the staging room (ceiling and taping and painting the drywall) before tackling the rest of the layout. Charlie Vlk Galesburg & Savanna Rwy. Co.
It has been a while! Punching holes in walls. I'm good at that! Why, just the other day, I dropped a half sheet of drywall. And yes, one corner of it banged out a nice big hole in a wall. Where it wasn't desired. Those cabinets sound like a very good idea. I'll keep my eyes and ears open for someone around here doing the same thing! Boxcab E50
Charlie, Glad to hear progress is being made. Don't forget, even if you have to rearrange construction plans, having those cabinets will vastly improve your staging room! Hey, I'm pretty good at this myself. Not with drywall, but ladders. I took our 6 foot step ladder, turned it to go through a door, and punched a pair of matching holes in the wall where the legs of the ladder hit. Then I banged the door with the ladder and punched a hole on the opposite wall where the doorknob landed. Jeff Augsburg & Concord R.R.
