A few "before and after" shots of the layout, which is in the process of being rebuilt.

First is Andersley yard and locomotive depot before the changes

Next, the same area after removal of unwanted trackage, and laying of the replacement track configuration.

The high-level yard has been removed, and the space used to widen Andersley yard, to make space for more industries. The line climbing up along the back wall will be completely screened by industries.

The main line now curves around the end of the yard and depot, instead of going across the doorway, so I can get into the layout without a 'duck-under' [IMG] (Not getting any younger! :D

It looks much better this way. I know what you mean by duck under. In two months I will be 70 and I am having a time sitting under my new layout running wires. At least I can sit up and not have to lay down under it.

    Looks good Alan!

BTW, would you happen to have a trackplan of the AW? Don't think I've ever seen one.

Bob, there are trackplans on the AW website (link in signature), although these will change soon, as I finalise new track layout, industries, etc.

Change is good. I had 2 layouts with duck-unders. On one I finally rebuilt it into a swinging gate bridge. It worked pretty well. But I agree those duckunder things should be avoided at all cost.

    Lookin' Good Alan,

Brian, I did give some thought to a removable portion, but there were 4 tracks at three levels across the door, so I dismissed the idea! [IMG]
