My layout is basically around the room with a peninsula coming down the centre from the one end. The city of Maberly will be on one half of the peninisula and the port city of Tayside on the other. A train proceeding from Mayberly moves east down the peninsula then proceeds around the room then back west on the peninsula to Tayside completing the point ot point trip. I have added track so a train can do continuos running around the room to make the trip appear longer. There are two main towns along the way so switching of local industries will be needed.
This update shows that I have installed the fascia. The first photo shows the view to the east on the south side of the room.

Next looking west on the south side.

Looking east on the north side.

The double track mainline is up and running around the room. Lots still to do as you can see.

Robin, that is going to be SOME layout  Looks like a goog long run around the whole layout.

To a Brit's eyes, it looks huge, what is the overall size?

Robin, many thanks for the pictures. Looks like a beautiful layout. Will love to follow your progress. Hope we'll see more pictures.

Question: what are you using for the mountainous scenery along your backdrop? It looks like a cut-out of some kind.
    Bill

p.s. I had the type problem with my exposed ceiling that I see you have. Exposed hot water (I think yours are) pipes etc. So what we did was get the black plastic drop cloths used by painters, cut them into strips and stapled to the upper floor joists. Then covered the staples with a strip of white pine 1" wide and 1/4" thick, and tacked it in place with brads. (that keeps the staples from pulling through, and makes it easy to get to anything that is covered, like cable, phone lines etc). We then painted the strips black to match. It has worked really well so far. Just a thought.
    Good luck.

    Robin,
Your layout is looking good. I love the backdrop warehouse stuff, but I just couldn't afford the amount I needed, so I used Faller's instead, but I prefer yours.

Lots of operations looks like it is planned for, great stuff.

    Very nice!

You have me curious- What is planned for the finished lighting? I see bare bulbs and fluorescents. Am guessing that these are temporary?

You are right about the lighting Boxcab E50
It's what I had for my previous layout and have to get back to redoing it too. One of the joys of changing layouts. This is the third one in this space over a ten year span. I wonder if I will ever come close to finishing one.

The MaT is really shaping up! I just wish I had that kind of space. Actually I do, but the wife would have my hide if I installed benchwork in the living room!! [IMG] :(
I have bare flourescents mounted in cheapo shop lites. Works for me, since being in the military, I'll be moving every 2-5 years.
Track lighting is just too darned pricey for my budget. That's the Kato fund! [IMG]
