i am trying to help a friend set the address on a N scale BLI PA with a Paragon 2 sound decoder. I have a Digitrax Super Chief system. Putting the loco on my programming track and using Paged mode programming, the loco responds to the command to change the address by flashing the light and chirping, but does not actually change it. I tried it with my DT-400 throttle and with Decoder-Pro. I can read back the variables but Cv-17 & 18 do not change. I have tried programming on the main in Operator mode, but the loco does not even respond (programming to address 3).
Do I need to cycle power on the decoder after setting the address? Has anyone else had this problem? I am not running a programming track booster.
I programmed my friends BLI E unit with no problems and that has a Paragon 2 in it.

Try doing a decoder reset (CV8=8). If that doesn't work, open up the unit and do the power-on reset button. One of those should get the decoder's attention. If not, give BLI a call, you've got a bum decoder

I did the CV8=8 reset and that did not help. I will pop the shell off and try the hard reset button

Just to close this thread, we found that the PA shell was sitting on the reset switch. When we have the shell off, it works properly, when we put the shell on, the decoder resets when powered up. We trimmed the switch and shell to allow clearance.
