I found a real strange problem with a LL E-8. One of the trucks was shorted out. Turns out one of the wheel sets was narrow in gauge and the two axles were touching inside the insulated gear muff that holds them. I coated one axle end with some fingernail polish to keep it from happening again.
I had the same kinda problem with my SD7 but I just swapped out the wheel set as the wheels was far to loose in the axle.
