:question:has anyone built a portable dc-dcc power supply for portable modules something in a toolbox or home made. I would like to have some ideas on how to make one. I have a couple 2x4 modules that can be joined or separate an d run dc or dcc, it would be great to have something to carry around to run both [one or the other] so you would only need 1 power lead thanks to all.

    Power

Carry a DC power pack and say an NCE Power Cab DCC controller. No big deal. Bachmann sells a nice small DC power pack.
I have the Power Cab and not much to it.

We mounted all of our DCC stuff on a board cut to fit in a $10 Stanley tool box. The command station/booster, power supply, extension cord, LNRP, is all mounted to the board. We open the box. Lift the board with components out. Close the tool box lid and sit the board on top of the tool box. All the wiring is already connected to the units with Powerpole plugs on their ends. Plug the extension cord in to house outlet. Plug the layout into track plugs and turn it on. We have three for our NTRAK modular layouts.
