    Hi guys,

    is there a way to post more pictures then 4 per post? That is kinda annoying to be only able to post 4 pics per post, and then have to start a new post to finish posting the pics from the previous post lol

    Im using the tags to post my pics, as i have them all hosted on Photobucket. is this 4 pic per post thing a permanent thing or is it just for new members? This is my 58th post already, and i still have picture limitations. My first posts were held until they were approved by a mod, and ive posted 3 threads so far, one about the Blast Furnace, one Blower House and one Superior Paper Company.

    I plan on posting a few more threads about my future layout plans, my M&ET layout and my steel mill layout, as well as bringing my thread about the M&ET Engine Roster Project i have going, but that is going to take quite a while if i can only post 4 pics per post. If you havnt noticed yet, i like pics and take LOTS of them LOL

    Thanks in advance for any help about the limits of posting pics

    Part of the reason for the limit is not everyone has high speed access and if there are to many images to load / page then the person will give up waiting. Posting images here I think you will find quite easy compared to other sites so just make a second, third, etc post to get all the images posted.

    Something I also try to do for those that are here via modems is to post the thumbnails that include links to the large images so the page even loads faster yet.

    Example:

    [FONT=Trebuchet MS, Arial, Helvetica] [/FONT]
    [FONT=Trebuchet MS, Arial, Helvetica][IMG] - [/FONT][FONT=Trebuchet MS, Arial, Helvetica] [IMG] - [/FONT][FONT=Trebuchet MS, Arial, Helvetica] [IMG] - [/FONT][FONT=Trebuchet MS, Arial, Helvetica] [IMG][/FONT]

    I, too, am sometimes frustrated by the 4 picture limit. I am intrigued by the thumbnails.

    How do you get the photos to show up as thumbnails? I always just copy and paste the IMG tag from my photobucket account.

    I also don't know how to reduce the size of my photos. Is there a simple way to do this?

    Thanks in advance.

    Darrell, quiet...for now

    Darrell,

    Photobucket can reduce the size of the pics when uploading them. The Typical Message Board size for pictures is 640x480 Pixels, although some forums may automatically reduce the size of the pics for you when posting them.

    If you use the Bulk-Up-loader when up-loading pics to your album(s) then look in the bottom left corner of the up-loader where it says "max image size", click "more options" and then change that to "large (640x480)" then "save"

    This should save as the default size when uploading all pictures to photobucket for your album(s).

    Hope this helps

    The software we use here at TrainBoard handles Cut-n-Paste extremely well so you can just highlight the thumbnails, copy them into your buffer, and paste them right into a topic. Another way is to post the thumbnail like any other image then click on it once and then click on the [IMG] icon here and put in the URL to the larger image.

    PhotoBucket Image example:

    When you click the Reply button, after that page opens, scroll down below Smilies to "Additional Options." Click on "Manage Attachments." Add your photo there. (Note the size and file type specs.) A thumbnail is automatically generated through this process.

    Josh,

    Four is the limit per post. It's partially due to the fact that some of our members are on dial-up links; partially due to bandwidth problems in the past, partially due to a desire to control our current bandwidth, and partially due to a decision that we have to limit it somewhere, and four seemed reasonable. When I post a long topic like a layout tour that may have 60+ images, it's not really a chore to break it up into 16 or so posts. That's extreme, of course. I'd never do a 60-image post on-line, as one glitch would lose it, most often at image 59. If you compose on-line with many images, then you trust your IP supplier much more than I do. When I have many images, I compose off-line.

    I'm on other forums that limit images to eight. That doesn't really affect me either.

    So four it is, for now.
