I finally have pics of the Milwaukee Road yard in Portage Wis. It's a compressed version, set in the 1950's. From the begining! Open grid benchwork up and glueing on the foamboard. The yard is 2' wide and 14' long Next is laying out track and gluing down roadbed If anyone is interested in seeing more let me know or go to my rail images album. I will be adding more photo's there!
Whatever you've got, that you want to share. I'm interested! What are your overall plans for the layout? Track plan/sketch? Anything? Glad you've got the picture posting figured out! Like I said, you'd pick it up fast! Boxcab E50
Boxcab, I am building the layout in sections, this is the first. After the yard is done I am going to do Tunnel City Wis., then Tomah and so on. I have each section drawn out but I never put them all together. This part of the layout, from Portage to tunnel City will fill a space 16' by 20', around the walls and a penninsula. If I ever do go all the way around then its on to La Crosse in another 12' by 25' room. Then if I ever live long enough I can go to the Twin Cities in a 25' by 30' room. Here is a pic of the foam painted, all the track laid and starting to put in buildings
Ken, I dug up an early design for the yard. It's still basicaly the same, I added another track to the top and bent some here and there. The right side is going through a wall and will be comeing northeast from Madison, the other side goes around a door way and will go to Wis. Dells. So you start in Portage. go to Wis. Dells, Lyndon Station,Mauston, New Lisbon, Camp Douglas, Tomah, Tunnel City then through the tunnel and the wall and your back in Portage. The bottom two tracks are a double main

Flash, The layout that I have planned already is 16' by 20'. But it could be 30' by 50' take away a little for a bathroom and furnace, hot water heater. Problem is I won't live that long!! The pictures I am posting now star about a year ago to the present, but I have been researching and planning the project a little over two years. I am trying to get it as prototype as I can, Just condensing hear and there between towns. This pictur was taken last week, just starting the ballasting
Here are two pics of the small engine facilities, mainly for switchers, oil fired steam and diesels. All of the buildings are scratch built out of wood except the sand tower and oil tank, they are styrene.
The engine house is a replica of the one in Wabasha Minn. owned now by the CP. JL inovative designs had a kit out but stopped production. When I couldn't find a kit anywhere I e-mailed them to ask permission to scratchbuild one useing thier pictures and three days later they mailed me the plans with all the sizes and details, nice guy's!!. The sand tower is a copy of a Milw. one from the Bensenville yard in Ill.except there they had five of them. All the others are copies of Milw. buildings from pictures I found. The other end of the yard has industries that were there during my time frame and I'll get to them later.
Time for that diet Ken!! I know what you mean about rolling stock, but I hate to put it all on there just to have to box it all up again to ballast.
