Hey everyone, Play Desnuda, like the mighty phoenix, has risen from the ashes, the first 16x72 section is now under construction. I am going to make sure that it is reliable and have basic scenery before extending* (possible small yard) I have 10 sections of Atlas Code 80 flex (already used two) and I am currently recycling my Atlas Code 80 Customline switches, and will be using ground throws again.
That'll be a much larger PD than before, right? At 16" wide, I'm guessing your interurban equipment will be able to curve around and run continuously if you wish?
it will be a longer run, but still at the original 16" width, but a pair of 12' walls....I am thinking about running the Red cars down the edge of one and having a large loop on the next section
I have also playing around with structures, and I see the need to add an S curve. The track in front of the green structure is the key to make the runaround work, there is enough room for a diesel switcher and a pair of forty footers, or one car and a 2-8-0
You know John, if you'd change your track plan just a bit you could make it a bit more user friendly. Flip the crossovers for the runaround, then you won't fall into that old trap of having to move cars from the two spurs "A & B" to make full use of the run around. Much like this: Unless that is part of your plan?
@bremner and @Hardcoaler Thanks, Yes, I pretty sure I understood. I guess I should have asked the origins of the name. Is there a background story to it? Was there a prior version? Anyway, I like the plan and might embed portions of it into the GandG 'industrial' section. Looks good!
since you asked... https://sopacincg.com/the-backstory-of-playa-desnuda/ https://sopacincg.com/operations/
I have added more track, and pulled some buildings out. I really want this section of the branch to be more urban than the last one...
ugh, sometimes this hobby has highs and lows, in the same day. I got the layout working, my new Atlas S2 is proving to be a wonder, I have been cleaning up my subpar soldering, and somehow I broke a switch rail...
It's like they say, you can't make an omelet without breaking a few turnouts. Or something like that.
