RESET: Over the course of the last 5 weeks or so, I have been putting together a JL Innovative Design "Bertani's Billiards" laser kit. I have been "chipping" away at it as time permits on weekends, etc. Well, I got it finished except for the plastic railings.

The kit comes w/ Central Valley railings. Simple and easy enough... EXCEPT for trying to bend them 90 degrees to go around corners. I tried slowly and lowly heating them but they still "pop". I even tried cutting and gluing, but there is absolutely no room for tolerance.

There has to be a way to effectively bend these things. I am still guessing by heating. I tried using a heat gun/dryer... the same one I use for heat shrink, but it didn't work. I am afraid to heat the things too much because of distortion.

    Any advice on these things????????????????

    Kitbash,
I have used the Central Valley stairs and railings, but I never have tried to bend the railings. What I did is cut the railings a little long, glue them in place then carefully clip off the rail until they blend then put a spot of glue in the corner. It worked for me ,might just work for you to!

Okay. I didn't think about extending the rails and cutting back after installation..

Good suggestion. I may try this when I get home tonight. Thanks for responding... exactly the kind of stuff I am looking for here.

Gonna definitely have to fire up my loupe glasses to pull this off! ;)

Maybe you could miter them then use TENAX?
It welds the two parts together, so there is no glue bulge.

Use clothes pins propped up to hold the pieces in place then just touch the under side and the Tenax will capillary into the crack, and the crack will disappear.

Try it on a piece of scrap. It takes less than a drop, an do not lay the assembly on anything plastic, lay it on metal or wood, or up in the air.

Watash and AK... thank you. I have started on these railings tonight using a combination of your suggestions. So far, so good. There are a few corners that are proving to be painful... but I can get this done.

Maybe by this weekend I will have them all on and can get a pic' up. I would finish it tonight, but there's some ACC college basketball I gotta check out!
