Hi, all, Pictures from Tuesday at NMRA National Convention 2008 in Anaheim at: NMRA National Convention 2008 pictures from Anaheim Photo Gallery by atsf_arizona at pbase.com It's a great convention. Great people. An unbelievable concentration of model railroading talent in one place. Pictures from Wednesday at NMRA Nationals. Today was LDSIG Layout Tours: NMRA National Convention 2008 pictures from Anaheim - Wed Photo Gallery by atsf_arizona at pbase.com Enjoy.
Here's another neat gallery, mostly product photos. Harry (Tracktime) usually updates this over time as well... 2008 NMRA National Train Show - Anaheim, CA Photo Gallery by tracktime at pbase.com Harry Wong (Tracktime) is another great photo-journalism model railroader, any of his photos are great. Glad to see his early shots of the things being setup at the National Train Show. As for Thursday, shots here are still of the NMRA Convention proper. I must say, the clinic program at NMRA is superb. Far and away, the best quality and expertise I've ever seen in the art and science of model railroading. As an example, today there were clinics and chance happenings on the following, I doubt I would have seen these anywhere else except at NMRA Nationals: - History of Japanese Brass (incredible exquisite models) - How to Get the Sound Out (Bruce Petraraca of Litchfield Station) - MMR Leslie Eaton's always popular clinics - her topic today was Inexpensive Animation - In the LDSIG room, an amazing demo of a mushroom layout design done in Sketchup architectural software And much more. Of course, the greatest thing is meeting other modelers, the talent here is rich, varied and deep. Me, too! I look forward to it every day. Fri-Sat-Sun left to go. BTW, if you go back to look at John Sing's pictures (and Harry Wong's pictures) they cover all kinds of modeling events back to 2002 or so. All great stuff!! Thanks for the posts, John. Get a picture of you and harry Wong, please. (I might know that guy, even if he is H0 scale.) Dan Kamikubo, too, if you can.
Late addition - I managed to get my NMRA National Train Show 2008 layout photos up online at the following URL: NMRA National Train Show 2008 Anaheim - Layouts Photo Gallery by atsf_arizona at pbase.com It's got a collection of all scales, including HO, N, Z (including the historic Western Pacific Z scale layout done by Model Railroader back in 1986). Hope you enjoy .
John, many thanks for all the great photos from Anaheim. I'm still trying to soak up the HO Gulf and Western intermodal facility. That is some facility. Must have taken a container or two just to transport all that. Ben
The Gulf and Western guys do have a great intermodal facility. We see them all the time here in South Texas and the detail seems to increase a little each time I see the layout. Right around the corner from the intermodal is the refinery. Notice the use of the mirror. Gulf and Western Refinery
