Each day, I pass by a yard area of the LIRR and sometimes a huge yard Queens side of Manhattan for Amtrack and LIRR.

With today's restrictions, am I permitted to take pictures of the yards and equipment as I pass by on my train?

I don't know what LIRR is like but I videoed stuff while travelling on MetroNth and NJTransit trains and no-one said anything, but that was before the NYC subway scare that happened about 4wks ago so maybe they have changed again. The train crews seem to be ok but watch out for the transit police of security guards or what ever they are, they were the only ones who tried to "flex" their power

That is EXACTLY what I want to avoid. I have an aversion to getting cavity searched.

The simple answer is YES, you can take pictures and if someone has an issue get there name, company, etc. and turn them in as they have no right to stop you based on what I understand you are asking.

Security has the right to ask you questions but unless you are violating a law, travel policy or trespassing they don't have any legal grounds to stop you.

I know you like the rest of us don't want to cause a confrontation and I find most people once they are comforatable with what you are doing won't give you any more bad time. It's that "First Impression" that counts more than anything on both sides so just be open and honest with what your doing and let them do their jobs and respect their concerns is all.

    My 2 cent view anyway...
