    Hey all,

I am new to the forums here, but it seems like a pretty cool place. To start off my name is Matt and I live in Redding, CA. I am a model railroader, part-time railfan and a volunteer for the Yreka Western Railroad out of Yreka, CA.

I am being started out as a brakeman and just starting to learn all of the different moves to be made. These photos are from a couple weeks ago which happened to be my first journey out. Pancho still is not ready yet after her late FRA inspection this year. Hopefully soon.

    Matt-

    Welcome aboard!

What is the heritage of that switcher? Those colors sure make me think of the Milwaukee Road!

    Thanks Boxcab.

Actually this SW8 is ex-SP and was painted just a couple weeks ago. It does have a Milwaukee Road look to it, but still looks pretty good.

    Matt,

I would love to see more Yreka Western shots as they become available. I love short lines.

    Welcome to Trainboard,
    Adam

Welcome aboard Matt! I love to visit the YW as often as I can. Thanks for the pics!!

I can't quite make it out but is that #20 that got new paint? I keep a roster going for the YW on my own site, Foothill Rails (YW roster). I'd love to hear of any changes roster wise goin on up there. Any status on the MRS-1 #244?

    Thanks again!

    Thanks guys.

Steam Donkey - I am up there volunteering every Sunday, so I am sure photos will be plentiful! Yesterday I forgot my camera.....

John - No that is the #21 repainted. 20 is out behind the shop on a storage track and we use it as a parts locomotive for the 21. The ALCO is still there along with the SD9. Although we did receive a new coach from Sacramento, also an ex-SP commuter although I forgot the number. It will take a little work before it is ready to go, especially the interior. The excursion car we are working on is almost done also and I heard the caboose is getting close as well. There was also word yesterday that we will be getting a couple more passenger cars and a baggage car I think.

Thanks Matt. So I can rewrite my roster to say #20 has been retired for parts? :D

By the way, you should write a blog here about your job and training.

Yup John, I think that would be a safe bet. :tb-wink:

Interesting idea on the blog. I might just do that. How do I go about starting?

Toward the top of each page is a dark gray nav bar. "Trainblog" is in between "my trainboard" and "FAQ". Just click there and you should be able to get goin. :D
