Having experienced some sorry photoline ettiquette during my many steam excursions, I was really awakened to the problems that a short person experiences. My 10 year old grandson sent me copies of his photos taken at the Grand Canyon extravaganza. Look at this--he gets butts in his face! How much is it to ask that photo line participants look around and have a little room for another photographer? :( [IMG] [IMG]

I've had the same problem a few times. I usually growl very LOUDLY at anyone that rude. And ask them if they won't mind when I step in front of them. Some are so selfish and rude, you want to give them a swift kick in the caboose. Jerks.

LOL.. The best thing about those people, though.. is that they're horrid photographers... Ya know... If the kid really likes to take pictures, you can get a Pentax K1000 and 50mm prime for next to nothing at a good used camera shop... http://www.mpex.com is one such example...

Dunno, though... I think boneheaded people like that need to be told to move, because they frankly don't care about your photo op... Just tell your son to be more assertive next time... I remember being a young and timid photographer... Took me a while to learn otherwise... =)

Hexhacker, welcome to Trainboard. K1000 is about the only 35mm Pentax I haven't used. Right now trying to revive an old Spotmatic for my daughter. I have two ME Super bodies that still function nicely. My grandson shot some with my Pentax, some with an Olympus "point and shoot" and some with a throwaway. He did real well when not obstructed. As an opposite to the first picture, this one was taken by Austin, my grandson, and I would guess there were several hundred photogs in a horseshoe around this sight, and for the most part they were very well behaved.

Ya some people are rude. I got a Good one to add to this. During the Challenger run through Iowa I really seen this happen.
While following the old steamer down a strech of hwy 30 I was passed by this guy doing about 70. Then after he got arround me I notice that he was driving while running his camcorder out the passenger window, while speeding.
Good ending to this was the Iowa State Patrol Caught him in the act and stopped him.... http://home.mchsi.com/~hinzpj3/
