OC, your models are making me want to do an ATSF unit now!

John, I look forward to seeing your photos!

    ATSF had early GP50s, late GP50s, early GP60s and late(r) GP60s.

Pay no attention to the horrible paint stripping job I did on this thing (too long in ELO)!Anyway, here's some progress photos of the dynamic brak box modifications. Still needs some finishing work as the close up photos will show. Grilles taken from an Atlas GP40-2 shell. Angles and facets done with careful filing and sanding. Extra pieces of styrene added here and there as filler and also to lengthen the raised area on the engineer's side.

    OK, thanks!

That shell will give me a short hood with brake ratchet too, should I decide to do an ATSF or BNSF unit.

It'll be the older nose though... you'll want an 88" nose, with a toilet hatch.

Good point. Looks like I'm back to an SP unit as I have an Atlas SD60 shell with a flush-mount brakewheel and toilet hatch. I believe the Atlas SD60 shells have an 88" nose.

Some more progress on this unit. A new short hood has been grafted in place of the stock LL hood. This hood was taken from an Atlas SD60 shell and has the correct flush-mount brakewheel area and classification light knock-outs. The nose has been notched out with a file in preparation for a headlight.

    SP GP60's

Well it's been a long time but I seem to recall that the first SP Gp60s that I saw here in Norcal were lettered Cotton Belt and were maybe also the 1st SP locos with ditch lights?...dave
