Not sure if this is the right place to ask this but... NYC and Pennsy merged in the mid seventies to form the super railroad Penn Central. Correct? NYC had a line into Chicago. They also owned IHB. So am I to assume that PC then had lines into chicago as well as owning all of IHB? Had IHB already been merged into NYC before this date?
The merger was Feb., 1968 and both the NYC & PRR had lines to Chicago. The IHB was a subsidiary of NYC and went to the PC. It brokeaway from PC in the seventies. PC had lots of trackage in and around Chicago.
NYC-BKO, thanks for coming up with the answer. Your trustworthy moderator (me) was offgoofing today doing what I love, filming steam. Here is the Spokane, Portland and Seattle 4-8-4 No. 700 enroute from Portland,OR to Salem today. The only time that the sun came out. Now, if she just had smokelifters and an elevated headlight.....sigh
