    Hey guys,

Just a few quick questions. Can the peco well-type turntable be motorized? If so, what motor is used and who is the manufacturer?
    Thanks and Happy New Year!!!

BLW sells a motorized version. Here's the link:

Unfortunately, it looks sold out at BLW but you might be able to track it down elsewhere.

    Good luck.

I think there was a recent (last month or so) string either here or on the Atlas forum.

I built one last summer. I got the peco TT from Internet Trains, and the motorizing kit from some no-name hobby shop I searched out on the web.

The motorizing kit cost me $50 and was just a Hankscraft display motor, an aluminum spacer with double sticky back foam tape to mount it, and a knurled shaft that you shove in the turtable bridge hole, and is just a friction fir. Pray it is not wobbly the first time, because it's a one time affair.

The Motorizing kit said E-R Model Importers, who wen out of business last winter. It's also known as LA Model Products, the same as on the BLW site. There will be no restock, and the motors are very hard to find.

All is not lost though, because the $30 Walthers Turntable Motorizing kit uses the same Hankscraft motor, and a different mounting bar for the pit. You can glue stacks of Plastruct styrene to the underside of the Peco TT pit to mount the motor very easy.

The only hard part is the press in motor shaft adapter. Again, Plastruct styrene, in tubing shapes will work because the bridge electrical pickup is part of the TT Pit, and not the motor shaft. :D
