I have about 15 Peco switches to use on my layout. I do not like to use an electric switch machine at all, I would like to use a stiff cable with a push-pull button to change the route of this Peco switches. The cable is no problem but what can I use for these buttons on the cheapy way? Don't tell me I have to drink 15 bottles of wine and use the corck as a button, I think if I nead to drink this much I no longer need a layout at all. Paul
Paul: I use model airplane control cables. Very nice and smooth, but expensive. I also use .025 stiff wire. It takes a little engineering to place it and get it to throw the points, but it will work. To me, by far the best and least expensive is a 1/8 to 1/4 inch wooden dowel. I let the dowel protrude through the fascia board to act as the throw. Downside is that it needs to be a pretty straight run for best results. BTW, most of my turnouts are hand thrown, so I don't use any turnout control at all with Peco electrofrogs.
