My wife and I drove to Toledo (OR) today to check out an oyster farm and just happened to pass by Georgia-Pacific One Spot there. The shelter is new since the last time I visited her and it looks like some more cosmetic work has been done. I started this thread in Class II because we also saw the Willamette and Pacific Toledo Hauler, powered by a GP-39a, but my camera doesn't do diesels! and her running gear [ September 26, 2005, 05:54 PM: Message edited by: fitz ]
Watash, I don't know. I don't know why the main rods are removed. I thought they intended to get her running again someday, but know there hasn't been much work on her. When they towed her back to where she sits now, all the main bearings were seized so they greased the snap track that they used, and slid her along.
The mesh is just a fiber material, hanging on the engine itself. Not sure of it's purpose. I have to admit I wanted a shot of the Toledo Hauler but couldn't get a decent angle and was trapped on the wrong side of the tracks. W&P runs quite an operation. A couple of weeks ago in Junction City they were running an SD40 or 45 with one of the GP 39-2's. Their equipment always looks good. YoHo that first shot is an oldie, with the ATSF paint still obvious.
the first shot is from either 2002 or 2003 taken in Beaverton right along TV Highway and Murray. Near Nike Headquarters. second and 3rd shots from the same basic location. 4th is from the MAX platform in Hillsboro and the fifth is from Albany.
