Due to an impending move, I have had to dismantle the N scale Paris & Mt. Pleasant RR. Upon arrival at my new residence, I should have room for an expanded version, and will start plans when I get there.

Some good things I have learned from my last layout:
Blue foam, 2" thick, on a plywood base (or a hollow-core door) is fairly easy to work with

Foam roadbed takes some work, but the results can't be beat

While Atlas code 80 is OK, I may look at smaller-scale track

Peco turnouts (and M-E turnouts) are wonderful!

One can never have enough storage tracks in a staging yard.

Ditch those danged Rapidos and get rid of the M-T deep-flange wheels. They, not Atlas' engineering, are the reason they don't run on code 55.

By the way, I'll have an HO scale layout already in place, ready to run- it takes up quite a bit of space in the upstairs. The N scale will be separate, as the HO will be run by the local model RR club (of which I used to be a member before I moved to Colorado). Frisco will rule on the HO, while the P&MtP will once again run over the blackland prairies and pine forests of northeastern Texas, albeit in N scale.
And Rick, if space allows, I'll definitely check out your nolix concept ;)

So you have a mixed marriage there in Sherman texas. By the way, I am Rick (Richard) Sherman Nicholson (rsn), the name Sherman has been in the family since the first born after my great....great....grandfather returned to Canada, after fighting with General Sherman. Every first born male gets it, we all hate it until we grow up.

I can't imagine having two scales in one home, by that I mean two layouts. Who gets the most attention - your first born?

For the past year or so, it's been N scale only. In my next home, I may toy with the idea of a portable N scale layout, just to show what's possible in that scale. And yes, the HO will be out & running.

As soon as I get an idea what "footprint" I'll be using, I can draw up a plan, and I'll post it here.
