Hello Everyone, I'm building a N scale layout. I would like to model Barstow California. Can anyone tell me what paint color I should use for the desert seen around the track area. I buy most my paints from Menards. If you have a color name and number, that would truly help me out. I just painted a section, but it looks to yellow. I'm trying to get a light brown sand look. Thank you all for your help.

Welcome to the place! I am sure Barstow Rick will be along shortly with some suggestions.

Was thinking about those layouts, too - as well I admire John Sing's (atsf_arizona) work on the tiny but mighty Peavine Line: https://www.trainboard.com/highball...s-n-scale-unitrack-santa-fe-peavine-line.322/

Looking at your sand color and the color of these other layouts I think if you start dirtying up your sand with a wash and throw on some desert vegetation it may look closer to what you're going for. Have a scrap piece to experiment with before committing to the layout space.

    Cheers -Mike
