In the mid 1980's BN painted GP-38's 2075 and 2085 in "Pacific Pride" paint schemes. Each was a bit different but had the hearlds of the roads that made up the BN. The 2075 was in the area not long ago and is looking tired. The "Pacific Pride" paint is still there but most of the hearlds are missing.

What are the 4th and 6th heralds? The Burlington, NP, SP&S, GN and Frisco are all recognizable, but what else went into BN?

I knew those existed; I just always thought of them as part of Burlington.

I just found this topic by searching for it, and I have a question:
Are you sure, that #2085 was painted in the Pac Pride scheme in the mid 1980's? The #2085 has the words "Pacific Pride II" on her nose and I always thought, that #2085 was painted in the Pac Pride scheme, after Pac Pride I (#2075) was damaged by a fire? A read anywhere on the internet that #2085 was painted in the Pac pride scheme in 1992, or something like that.

Maybe there's someone who knows something about the #2085 history, especially in which period of time #2085 served as Pac Pride II.

    Regards
    Chris

Either a fire, or a grade crossing accident. Kinda ironic, with the "B Safe" using the BN logo on the unit's fuel tank!

Had my dates off a bit.The 2075 was painted in "Pacific Pride" in 1990 with 2085 following shortly after. Both units were in service in "Pacific Pride" paint at the same time.
As for Pacific Pride 2075 being in a fire I have no information. 2087 was in a derailment on the Oregon Trunk and was burned after the 2230 caught fire. Alco C 425 4265 also burned in the same derailment. 2230 and 4265 were both cut up and the 2087 rebuilt at West Burlington

Not To Worry! It Can Happen To Anyone.

I can get my dates and times somewhat askew as well.

Thanks for showing off your units...I remember these and then came to mind the SD45 that was given the GN Orange and Green and called a. "Muscle Power" b. "Hustle Power" c. "Ram Power". Obviously I don't remember which one. Grin!

Do you know, when exactly the 2085 was painted in the Pac Pride scheme? A couple of years ago Athearn offered the 2085 in HO and I bought it at that time. Today, finally I have the time to build a diorama, but for building it properly, I should know the dates when the 2085 was in service as Pac pride II. I was searching for some exact dates on the internet, but unfortunately I couldn´t find anything.

I read in another forum, that the 2075 was decommissioned for about 8 months because of a prime mover malfunction. Due to the fact, that they didn´t knew, if 2075 ever will be back in service, they painted 2085 in the same Pac Pride scheme and named it Pac Pride II in March 1992. A couple of months later 2075 was back in service and was damaged one more time by a fire in October 1992.
As I said, I read it in another forum, but I don´t know if these dates are correct. I even don´t know if these things (prime mover malfunction and fire) ever happend, and that´s why I´m looking for a confirmation. However, for me it would be enough to know during which certain period of time the 2085 was painted in the Pac Pride scheme.

By the way: Thanks already for your help! :)

I know for sure that in 1993 both units were in service in Pacific Pride paint. It is doubtful that 2075 was involved in a fire or other serious damage as a couple of years ago I found the unit with some of the emblems intact albiet worn and the BN emblem on the cab sides painted out and BNSF painted.

Thanks for the information :) I hoped that I can to run the Pac Pride II on a dioroma together with the UP 3593 (in the Desert Victory scheme), but unfortunately the UP 3593 was painted in the Desert Victory scheme just between february 1991 and october or november 1991. Bad luck for me, but that´s life... ;)

I'm pretty sure I saw one of these go by our place. It is "trimmed" differently than the normal BN unit's, and all the logos are missing but something different was on the nose. The cab has been painted over with the BNSF. Overall it was kinda sad looking. I think is was the 2085 but not 100% sure.
We live up by the canadian border and 3-4 geeps go by pulling a lumber and grain train every day.

I hardly can´t imagine that it was the 2085. As far as I know the 2085 was repainted in a BNSF heritage scheme approximately in 2000. But I heard, that the 2075 is still in use as Pac Pride, but in a very poor condition. So, I think you saw the 2075. But maybe it runs past your location again, and you can verify, which unit is was.

You could be right, I only get about a few second glimpse when the train comes out of the tree's and dissapears behind the warehouse. Then again it could have been jus another old BN loco, but it seemed different than any of the others. Those units seem long gone now I've had the same pair of BNSF GP's and one BN I think #2107, that have been running up and down the line for awhile now. Basically our track runs north and interchanges at the border with CN, and services a lumber mill and grain facility. 3-4 units go north about 9pm every night with empty lumber cars and whatever is bound for canada, and come back with full lumber cars about midnight.
