Does anyone know what would have been on SLSF owners plates on their various later model diesels? I'm assuming the plate on the rear of the walkways is an owner's plate? I've seen this text on another locomotive,

OWNED BY THE XXXXXXXXXX BANK AS TRUSTEE
LEASED TO XXXXXXXXXX AND SUBJECT TO A SECURITY
AGREEMENT FILED WITH THE INTERSTATE COMMERSE COMMISSION

On a non-lease loco, would it just say "Subject to a security agreement filed with...." ?

A closeup pic of an SLSF sample would be ideal, but if anyone just "knows" that would suffice. Getting a couple models soon where my decals would actually be readable so I want to be as accurate as possible! [IMG]

    Thanks for any help! -Mike

I reviewed my personal pix and can tell you that the owner/lessor plate on Frisco engines was at the rear of the sill as you indicated. I can see the plate on the GP38, SD45, GP35, and GE units. Most of thw switch engines had a plate the rear. I could not really see this plate on the GP40 units, but it's safe to say that the plate was mounted at the rear sill.
Santa Fe units also favored the rear sill, but the Rock Island units I looked at, were by the builders plate, below the cab on the sill.

I have a really good close up of a Rock Island U25B plate. It says "Chicago Rock Island and Pacific Railroad Equipment Trust Series Y
The Northern Trust Company Trustee Owner And Lessor" I can't read the plates on my Frisco pix.

Hi Ron - welcome to TrainBoard! That information helped, upon further search engine use with that info I came up with the term "Trust Plate" as well. These things are so varied in verbiage that I don't think I can guess at all what it says but will need a photo to be sure...

One thing I noticed about the later units of SLSF (like the GP40) and re-paints is that the information appears to be painted/stenciled on the sill rather than on a plate.

Thanks, and again - welcome! -Mike
