I saw an intersting thing in the Cincinnati Enquirer on Thursday or Friday.

A short article saying that a CSX train had run out of fuel (in the Sharonville area I think), and that it sat there untill they could dispatch another loco to pull them off.

How often would somethng like that happen, and whose responsibility is it to make sure that there is enough fuel onboard to get to your destination?

It does occur now and then. Saw this event embarrass a local of the Milwaukee Road.

What happened, was there was no power for that train available, and there was a crew called, waiting to go. So when some engines came in off another train, those persons in charge of dispatching simply grabbed a unit, and sent it right out.

The result was the local made half it's trip. And ran out of fuel  while straddling a busy road. Shutting down automobile traffic for over an hour. Made lot's of friends that day. Not!
