Last weekend, my brother and I attended our first time operating session on the Peoria and Pekin Union. This is one impressive N scale layout! If memory serves, it's 40' x 50' and engulfs the entire basement of the owners home. The first thing you notice as you enter the layout room is the height of the benchwork. It's about five feet above the floor and provides a clever solution for the duckunders. Wooden step benches are in the aisles and provide easy access to all but a handful of the 650 hand thrown turnouts with the remainder operated by Tortises. There are lower levels of trackwork as well and they can be accessed using the four helixes (sp). Many thanks for the hospitality and the opportunity to participate.
