All, How many of us have made Duplicate copies of existing Locomotive to Freight Car Drawings in order to Create your own in-house spinoff Railway, Short Line Railway Line or A Lease Fleet by coloring them in with COLORED PENCILS . Yes the OLD SCHOOL WAY ? Yes this has to be before The CAD software ! Sorry CAD Designers, you’re possibly too young for what I am attempting to say here. Below are two of my own ideas on the EMD SD40 Series! Tom
Dan, CAD was not what I had in mind , did you read my post thoroughly or skim through it quickly? Tom
I'm literate, so was able to read it and thoroughly understand it, but thought my friend's excellent CAD illustrations might be of interest to others who haven't seen the precision it can produce. I have deleted it.
I always try to model GM&O. Therefore, I have not tried your idea. Sometimes a simple method is the best method. If you want better pencil coverage (may be overkill), try Berol Prismacolor pencils. These can be blended for more flexibility.
I started out this way, but I then found two sites online that have downloadable drawings "PaintShop.Railfan.net" and "Trainiax.net". By downloading the drawing that you want and then opening it in MS Paint, no pencils are needed. Dan
