The Eastern BC Rail Link got its benchwork complete today, after about 8 weeks, now on to the helix! It is a very nice double decker layout for me and my dad and has an okay amount of space. I got my branchline, I am happy!

For the helix we decided Helix's SUCK so we are going to have a spaghetti track crawl up (2.5%) up to my level! It will be nice, we may need a helper for a few trains, but that is a non-issue as we have DCC and it isn't hard to do (brag brag)! [IMG]

    Happy Railroading!

    Dane,

Great to hear that you've staked out the realestate! I'm still in the planning stage, hopefully not for long.

    Dane,
Congratulations on completeing the benchwork. It is always good reaching a stage in building a layout. Maybe you could post a few pictures so we could all see?

Way cool! I still am on hold and making some plan changes. Meanwhile I have a killer test oval [IMG]......well ok it stinks! I still have not decided what I want to do. What type of benchwork did you build? I have been playing with the idea of a helix again. I agree with you, they stink! But since I increased the clearance between my levels to 20" (including 5" for benchwork) that is alot of height to overcome. I do not want my entire layout to be a 4% grade [IMG] I am still also toying with the method used on the M.A.T. by Robin of winding the track up a mountain. How are you and your dad addressing this?

    Thanks and congrats!
    Matt
